Tools: Articulate Rise and Storyset
Time in development: 3 days
My role: research, script, graphic design, storyboard, voiceover, development
Client: Private Consulting Company
Objectives:
Learners will be able to:
Identify 4-step process for facilitating difficult conversations.
Demonstrate the ability to name key actions before, during, and after discussions and overcome issues in the workplace.
Context: No one loves having a difficult conversation at work—but most of us have had to do it. Because it’s so common, knowing how to navigate a sensitive discussion effectively is essential. In this course, learners self-pace through a informative, scenario-based module learning how to prepare, facilitate, and close the loop on difficult conversations in the workplace.
Challenges: Based on the company's mid-year survey data, only 40% felt confident to conduct difficult conversations in the workplace. Only 25% agreed that the workplace is a safe-space to address disagreements and/or differences. To analyze the source of the gap, I conducted interviews and survey's. During interviews, employees named that more often than not, instead of going to the individual they have a disagreement with, they speak to other colleagues or say nothing at all. When asked, "how have you approached a colleague in the past during a disagreement?", associates were not aligned on a framework to approach and facilitate difficult conversations.
Solutions: This interactive course takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. Employees can complete any where as it is device agonistic. It gives an overview of a 4 step process of planning and executing difficult conversations in the workplace
Results: After completing the course, the consulting company has reported improvements with workplace morale on the mid-year survey.
